Online Teaching Essentials is a practical, hands-on course designed for teachers who want to master the fundamentals of teaching effectively on Zoom (and later transfer to other video conferencing platforms). Whether you're transitioning from the physical classroom or starting fresh in the virtual one, this course gives you the essential tools, techniques, and confidence to make online learning engaging, organized, and productive. Teaching online is not simply in-person teaching on a screen. Through demos and guided practice, you’ll learn how to manage a Zoom classroom quickly and smoothly, design attractive slides, keep learners motivated, and deliver clear, structured lessons that work online. You’ll also explore simple strategies for correcting learners, providing feedback, and workload management—so you can teach well without burning out. By the end of the course, you’ll know how to set up your online classroom, facilitate breakout rooms, learn how “board” contributions in different ways, monitor tasks, troubleshoot common issues, build a sense of community, and create engaging learning experiences that genuinely support your learners.
