About Mathilde, a Student from France

Dear Adell

I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you for all your help with Mathilde B, the young French girl who is spending a week with you.

From my first call with Glenn and from subsequent contact with him and with Lizzie Green, I have been hugely impressed with their enthusiasm, expertise and helpfulness.

My daughter Angela called in with Mathilde today and said that Lizzie could not have been more helpful and encouraging (despite some difficulties with said young French girl!).

Please pass my most sincere thanks to your colleagues. They are a credit to Live Language in Glasgow.

Thanks again for all your help.

I do hope that young Mathilde does not pose too many problems for you.

Kindest personal wishes.

Frank, former CEO of Learn Direct & SQA

Close friend of Mathilde's father

Monica from Slovaquia

To Sharon and all the staff at Live Language!

Just a big thank you for helping me with my IELTS preparation. I really enjoyed my course. Live language is a great School, friendly and very helpful I wish you all the best for the future.

PS: My overall result is 7.5 which is mainly because the 2 weeks preparation helped me with the test layout.

i would really recommend this school to everybody who needs preparation in short time.

Thank you very much!

Keke Vila-Belda - Spain

I've just spent 4 months improving my English at Glasgow. Besides the damp weather and the accent, the city is perfect for this purpose. If you are looking for an English academy, Live Language is your choice. Nobody is paying me for this...at least not yet..haha The best, the size of the groups..and of course, the friendly staff. I'm sure you'll feel at home. I was taking Ielts lessons and I got the score I needed! You'll cope with the coffee.

Ah! Gorgeous blonde Sharon is just amazing.

Best teacher and person in a broad sense I've ever meet. :P

Cheers you all!

Takahiro Hashimoto - Japan

My name is Takahiro Hashimoto. I was born in Japan and I recently changed my career from working as a whisky sales officer for a Japanese import company - to working as an English Teacher at Nisco ( or cram school) in Japan. This was a big career change for me and Live Language in Glasgow was very important in helping me achieve this goal.

I had been in Scotland for one week  before I studied  at  Live Language. I  was  travelling  around Scotland by myself and I booked myself on an English course at Live Language just for one day. At that time, I could hardly communicate with native speakers so I consulted the School Director, Adell Mitchell, about how to study English, what to do, where was the best place to live in Glasgow and so on.

One year later, I came to live in Glasgow and started learning English at Live Language. It was quite a valuable experience for me. For example, I made new friends immediately at the school, I enjoyed Glaswegian and Celtic music every weekend, I adored the Scottish culture and I was taught English by kind, friendly teachers. I am sure that anyone could have as good a time as I did if you  were to go to Live language! I studied for nearly a year at the school and my English skills improved a lot. I studied English every day at the school and I enjoyed Glaswegian life after my lessons.

Some people wonder if it is better to study English in own their country or in a native-speaking country. I absolutely insist that studying in the Native country is the best way to learn English. Please challenge yourself with a new life  and with new pals in Scotland!

I would encourage you to learn English at Live Language and you will achieve your dreams.

The visit was amazing!

We had time enough to visit a lot of things, even ride a helicopter!!

The size of the group was really positive.

Metin - Student - Turkey

Before going to Scotland and joining Live Language, I was quite nervous because it was a different country and new one where I've never been and Live Language was a new school for me. But then in my first day in LL, I felt so comfortable because the first reaction of staff was great and it made me happier. All staff are so friendly in LL and they are really helpful, when there is something, they always try to help for every sutitation. Staff works very proffesional in LL, they always do some social events and every weekend they take students to some places to visit like museums, big gardens some special Scottish events. They are really good at this and we had fun. It depends on you going with them or not but of course if you go with them, you will explore Scotland...

And teachers are really nice, they have a lot of experiences in another countries so they know different cultures and because of this students feel so relax with them. They teach English very well, there is nothing to get bored in LL, teachers are friendly after a couple of weeks you will feel like they are your friends. Their teaching skills are perfect, when I was in class with my teachers, I was happy and time was going really fast... They always make class funnier...

Also Glasgow has a lot of attractions, you will never get bored, Glasgow is a really good city and on Saturday nights you must see Sauchihall Street... Out of Glasgow everywhere is green and fresh air make you feel better... Of course you need to visit Lessie in Loch Ness.   My favourite island is Sky. If you spend one weekend in isle of Sky, it will be great and you never forget...

Scotland was one of my best experiences in my life, I am so happy to study there and meeting with really nice Scottish teachers and staff. I am looking forward to go back to Glasgow to visit them.

p.s And I miss eating fish and chips.  Does Sharon have got a new delivery boy? hahaha

Mohamed - Student - Libya

This trip to Stirling was amazing and wonderful! I hope that Live Language keep making this kind of trip because it help us to learn about Scotland and see the natural of this land and meet another people.

Nicolas Fauger - Student - France

I have just received the report of the IELTS exam .  The band score amazes me: 8.0!  After the test, I felt that I had done what I could, but did not expect such a mark.

Sharon's course has surely been the best help during the preparation.  So, I would like to thank her and also you, Rachel, for the advice you gave to me when I came in November in order to begin a course in the school.  I have heard that you moved in a new building.  I hope that the place will permit the school to be as studious and as pleasant as it was in Park Gardens.

I send to you and to your team all my best wishes for the continuation of the year.

Jill Highwood - Mother (regarding her son Alex) - Glasgow

Thank you to Live Language for their assistance in furthering my son's knowledge of Spanish in preparation for his Higher exam this year.  The one to one lessons proved to be excellent with the teacher taking a great interest in my son's progress.  The course was extremely well organised and staff were friendly and approachable.  We'll certainly be back next year!

Gorm Cramer - Agent - Denmark

Dear Adell,

I just had a long letter from Lasse Thomsen who attended your school recently.

There are a few points - all very positive.

In short he writes:

The teachers was very good and engaged in supporting the students.

The host family was nice and he was very satisfied with them.

He thought it was a great experience to meet the other students from all over the world.

All in all he gives the school his best recommendations .

So, Adell - it was a very nice letter to recieve.

Oscar Reyes Santos - Student - Mexico

I hope you remember me, I´m a Mexican guy who took an English at Live Language course for IELTS preparation from April to June this year.
Unfortunatelly I couldn´t continue attending to the rest of the course, because I had some timetable changes at the school where i was working and some difficulties with my postgraduate studies.
The reason of these brief words is to thank all the staff members who I met and who were really kind with me during my time there -allison,my teacher; Maria, hope she still works there, Liri, The Spanish teacher from el País Vasco; and Rachel, who gave me some advice for IELTS textbooks . Many thanks Adell for your attention -I wish I had been able to be there and say all this in person. I´ll look forwrd to visit u next year as I´m planning to take a course in Glasgow.
Well, time for me to go. I wish u all the best of the best.

Case Studies

YUKO TSUMAGARI , TOKYO Marketing, TOSHIBA

Yuko had an intermediate level of English and dreaded communications and meetings with overseas clients because her English let her down. Realising this, her Line Manager decided to send her on a 2 week Intensive Business English Group Course at LIVE Language.

Yuko’s needs analysis showed a need for systematic grammar and vocabulary in specific areas, such as Telephone English, Presentation Skills and English for Meetings.

Her teacher designed an interactive and enjoyable course with lots of practice to build up Yuko’s confidence. She combined practice in the classroom with a lively social life with teachers and other students to practice as much as possible.

MARIA RAVENTOS , MADRID Marketing and Advertising, BD-NTWK

Maria has been studying with us for over a year. She works for a marketing and PR company in Glasgow which depends on clear, concise and competent communications.

Maria attends our Cambridge Advanced Exam Group C l ass on a part-time basis, for 3 hours per week. We meet the needs of local employers by providing this class in the evening as well as during the day. An employer sees a pass in the Cambridge Advanced Exam as a guarantee that non-English speakers can communicate effectively in a wide range of business situations.

We are confident Maria will pass the exam this June.

MICHAEL KLINGE , GLASGOW Managing Director, KLINGE CHEMICALS

Michael already had a basic knowledge of Spanish, but wanted to improve to be able to break into the South American and Latin American markets. We tailored an intensive Private Business Spanish Course for him, pin-pointing his needs and building his Social Spanish and Presentation Skills.

As a busy Managing Director, we were able to provide lessons at our school, in his office and at his home on a flexible basis over a 3 month period. We aim to provide a schedule to fit in with our student’s lifestyles, not theirs with ours. We believe this flexible approach makes us the first choice for business people in Glasgow who need a short sharp and effective language fix.

MARIKO TAKAHASHI , GLASGOW, Housewife and Mother

Mariko’s husband is an architect with RMJM and works long hours. Their children are both attending private school in Glasgow and Mariko needs to be able to make sure she can look after her family while they are in Scotland . Mariko attends our daily General English Group Course which runs throughout the year at LIVE Language. Here she meets other homemakers in the same situation and is able to improve her language skills while having fun. She loves the small class size here, and the friendly atmosphere at the school.

Mariko’s confidence has grown over the last few months since arriving in Glasgow and she is now looking for a part-time job.
