About Live Language

Live Language is a privately owned business and we specialise in teaching languages.  That's all we do here at the school.  We keep our class sizes small, so that you can learn at a faster pace and receive more personal attention.  All our teachers are native speakers and have at least one degree under their belts.  So your education is in good hands here!

2010/2011 Italian Evening Course Dates

 

There are two Terms (Semesters) each year with Semester 1 running from October until Mid February and the Second Semester continuing from the middle of February until mid June (Monday classes will finish at the end of June to take into account any Bank Holidays).  Each Semester will be 15 weeks long and there will be 2 week breaks for Christmas and Easter respectively.

Semester 2 (2011)

Monday 21st February - Friday 17th June

(Monday classes finish on the 4th of July)

Start Learning Italian Course 1 (A1i & ii)
15 week course Min 4 Max 12 students 1.5 hours per week
Group tuition

This is a year long (30 week) course, split into two 15 week semesters; A1i and A1ii and is designed to assess an elementary knowledge of Italian. 

This course is suitable for both adults and young people from the age of 16 onwards.

Learners who passed this class confirm that they have reached a language level of A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, indicating the ability to use Italian at an elementary level.

At the end of the course you should be able to;

  • Understand and use familiar everyday expressions and basic phrases.
  • Introduce yourself and others and ask and answer questions about personal details.
  • Interact in a simple way with native Italian speakers

This course is suitable for both adults and young people form the age of 16 onwards.

Learners who passed this class confirm that they have reached a language level of A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, indicating the ability to use Italian at a post-elementary level.

At the end of the course you should be able to;

  • Understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).
  • Communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
  • Describe in simple terms aspects of you background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need

Continue Learning Italian Course 1 (B1 i & B1 ii)

This is a year long (30 week) course, split into two 15 week semesters; (B1i and B1ii) and is designed to follow on from level A2 to assess an intermediate knowledge of Italian.

This text will be available from the school at the start of the course.

This course is suitable for both adults and young people form the age of 16 onwards.

Learners who passed this class confirm that they have reached a language level of B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, indicating the ability to use Italian at an intermediate level.

At the end of the course you should be able to;

 

  • Deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken.
  • Enter unprepared into conversation on topics that are familiar, of personal interest or pertinent to everyday life (e.g. family, hobbies, work, travel and current events).
  • Connect phrases in a simple way in order to describe experiences and events, my dreams, hopes and ambitions.
  • Give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
  • Narrate a story or relate the plot of a book or film and describe my reactions.

Tailor-made 1:1 or 2:1 tuition 15, 20 or 30 hour courses Flexible lessons

A Private Lessons or Semi-Private Lesson (2 students, one teacher) allows the student a greater flexibility in learning, and can focus more on the areas that you want to study. Private students will see a faster rate of progress than group students. Teachers will give students a needs analysis at the beginning of their course to pinpoint problem areas and will plan a schedule to suit the needs and interests of the student. Available all year round from 9am - 9pm Monday to Friday and 9am - 5pm on a Saturday.
