Programme
During peak times of the year we offer both afternoon and morning classes. So you can either start your class at 9am and finish at 2.30pm or start at 1:00pm and finish at 6:00pm. The course combines general and academic English (with a particular focus on writing) alongside academic study skills, and Exam preparation. Sometimes you will work with a course book and sometimes with handouts provided by your teacher. There will be a mixture of class hours, tutorials, homework and guided self access. This course will cover the four skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing, with a focus on improving your fluency and ability to communicate in English. We also work on your grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. The course is structured with a textbook and teachers also use other materials, such as DVDs, newspapers and magazines, and music. We plan our lessons to suit the needs and interests of the group. Afternoon classes will focus on academic language and skills, rather than general English. You will receive advice on self-study and are encouraged to use English outside the classroom, particularly on our fun social programme, which includes cultural, social and sporting activities. We limit our class sizes to a maximum of 12 people so that you receive more attention than you would if you were in a larger class.

IELTS Exam Course (7.5h) - (EE75)
The IELTS Exam International students who wish to study at a British or Australian university usually need a suitable IELTS exam result. Some professional employers in the UK also require foreign practitioners whose first language is not English to achieve an IELTS score.
Programme To join the IELTS course, you need an Upper-Intermediate level of English. You can usually start any Monday but you must check with us first that a suitable class will be available. Some students only need a short course, while others need more time to achieve their required test score. We will familiarise you with the test, and will help you learn the exam techniques you need. We will improve your confidence and test skills through preparation for the exam: essay writing, fluent and accurate speaking, interpreting graphs and charts, and reading and listening practice. This programme includes sample exam questions. You can usually take the IELTS examination in Glasgow, and we will help you with your application form and test booking. Test places may be limited in July and August, so early booking is advised. You will be given advice on self-study and are encouraged to use English outside the classroom. You are welcome to use the school’s books and computers for self-study in the school, and a teacher is available during the day to give you advice. For longer-term students, we can offer advice on life in the UK, and can help with day-to-day matters such as banking, accommodation or registering with a doctor.

Programme One-to-one lessons let you work on your language needs, and will help you to use English confidently and effectively. You can achieve your aims quickly, and previous students who have taken private lessons have been pleased with their fast progress. You can take any number of one-to-one lessons, from one to 30 hours each week. You can add one-to-one lessons to a group course, or take only private lessons. We will ask you about your individual language learning needs when you start the course. Previous private classes have covered very different subjects, such as job interview preparation, giving presentations, speaking and listening practice, and pronunciation. You tell us what you want to study and we will plan the lessons for you. Semi-Private Lessons A Semi-Private Lesson allows two students of the same level to study together with one teacher. By combining a group lesson with a private lesson, you get the advantages of learning with another person combined with the focus on your own individual learning needs.
Accommodation can be arranged in homestay, self-catering or hotel accommodation. We recommend staying in our friendly and welcoming homestay accommodation, which gives you lots of opportunity to practise your English, and lets you learn about Scottish life and culture.
