Live Language English School Scotland

       Welcome to Scotland!

WHAT TO DO IN SCOTLAND

Scotland is well known for its breathtaking scenery, warm hospitality and generosity of spirit. It is a perfect place to study English.

The standard of living is cheaper than in England or Ireland, and the landscapes are some of the most beautiful in the world!

Live Language is based in Glasgow, Scotland. The town has been awarded European city of Architecture and Design in 1999, and in August 2009 Glasgow was the 12th city of the Creative Cities Network established by UNESCO at the end of 2004 to promote the social, economic and cultural development.

Glasgow Scotland is very well-situated as the city is near Stirling and Edinburgh. You can easily travel by bus or train and do a tour to visit our mythical monuments and castles, our lakes and mountains.

With our two airports (Prestwick Airport and Glasgow International Airport) you can travel easily and for cheap to many other places such as Dublin, Belfast or London.

There is a wide variety of things to do in Scotland from Whitewater Rafting to Panning for Gold.  Scotland has a Different Adventure for Every Month.

ARTICLE FROM THE NEWSPAPER METRO - 5th of FEBRUARY 2010

What’s my best line? You’re the best, again

SCOTLAND’s West Highland line has been voted the world’s greatest rail journey for the second year in a row. Wanderlust magazine voted the route ahead of exotic rivals in Peru, Australia and Canada. Even the iconic Orient Express only made it th eighth place. Passenger services on the line are operated by First ScotRail but the Jacobite Express steam engine operates the section between Fort William and Mallaig in the summer months. In second and third place were the Trans Siberian Express and the Eurostar. The triumphant Scottish rail journey was recognized for its breathtaking and varied scenery of lochs and islands and the 21-arch Glenfinnan viaduct.

WHAT ABOUT THE SCOTTISH ACCENT?

Some people would worry if the Scottish teachers would speak English with a strong accent. Each Region in the UK has its own accent. Teachers in England have their own regional accents too and some of them are thicker than the Scottish Accent!

Our teachers are well qualified and most of them have taught abroad and have been teaching for years.  If they were not easily understood then they probably would not be kept on in a job. Finally, 2% of English speakers in the UK actually speak 'received pronunciation' - Queen's English. The percentage of them who are actual teachers is hard to determine.  So wherever you go in the UK you will here different regional accents of which Scottish and Glasgow would just be part of.
