These summer courses are ideal for those students visiting Glasgow for a short time but who wish to have a challenging learning experience while enjoying a holiday. The classes are suitable for those who are intending on sitting for the exam or people who require a more demanding course. The stimulating syllabus prepares you for all aspects of the exam while continuing to develop grammar and vocabulary skills. All classes allow you the maximum time to practise your English, meaning that you can maximise the benefit of the course while living in a native English-speaking environment.
These highly communicative courses can be taken to prepare for the FCE or CAE exam. The courses introduce vocabulary and grammar, which will help you pass the Cambridge exams.. The classes cover the essential exam tasks such as describing photographs, writing an essay or discussing your opinion. Although vocabulary is a key element of the course, the students will be expected to continue to enrich their vocabulary outside of the school if they wish to achieve success in the exam. The class follows a core course book with supplementary materials to suit the needs of the group.
The course also focuses on techniques and coping strategies to deal with all sections of the exam: Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking and Use of English. Each component is dealt with in great detail, including analysis of the marking criteria used by the examiners and provides students with extensive practice time using exam papers to improve their performance.
The courses are most suitable for the following levels of English:
You will be continually assessed on your performance in the classroom you will have the chance to practise with exam papers each week. Homework is given on a daily basis. You receive feedback and advice from your tutor on this work.
Tutorials are also carried out each month and give you feedback regarding your areas of strength and weakness. In addition, tutorials are an opportunity to discuss academic goals, pastoral needs and level progression on a one-to-one basis with your tutor.
