Course is intended for those wishing to pursue a career in teaching English as a foreign language or those who have non-native English speakers in their existing teaching context.You may be considering a new career challenge or be a teacher who has foreign language speakers in their class. Either way, this first stage qualification developed by SQA is an ideal way to find out more about tutoring ESOL.
It is divided into 2 units:
This unit introduces the four main skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. This unit also includes an introduction to the learner centred approach used in ESOL training.
The learner centred approach to ESOL is investigated and the course participants will be able to observe lessons exemplifying the methodology. This unit also allows participants to plan, deliver and reflect on a series of tutorials.
The course is generally run one evening per week over a period of 20 weeks.
